Statues! Another Steady Beat Game Variation

So- this one is SO fun! Pick some songs, per the steady beat game criteria. (Refer to post: The Steady Beat Game.) Play the song. Pause it and strike a pose. Students copy. Start the song again. Pause. Pose. Repeat.

Variations:

-Play different songs in between to have students identify and move to a different tempo.

-Pick a student to strike poses.

-Pick a student to stop and start music.

-MY FAVORITE- show pictures of statues on the board for students to copy. You can either draw stick figures on cardstock or in a powerpoint for students to mimic, or you can show *actual pictures of actual statues for them to copy.

*Here is the "Statues" PowerPoint I use. I took all the pictures myself, so there's no copyright infringement and you're free to use it for education purposes. If you want to share it with teacher friends, please send them to the website to download it themselves. Thanks!

P.S. If you kids ask where the pictures were taken, all but the last one were taken in Antalya, Turkey. They're statues of ancient Romans doing modern day things. The last picture is taken at Le Musée d'Orsay in Paris, France.
