The Loading Zone

My first time on the cart, I shared and office with the PE teacher and my music supplies were all in a closet in the cafeteria. I spent most of my planning time running back and forth, loading and unloading my cart on the floor of the PE office. (Sorry Josh...)
This time around, I became determined to use my planning time to do more than load and unload the cart and maybe check my email. So- I created a loading zone.

Ta daa! Now, it might look a little chaotic, but actually it's pretty simple. It's my loading zone! One shelf for the morning classes and one for the afternoon classes.
Here's how it works. I plan my lessons for the cycle. I always list out needed materials at the top of my plan so I can check and make sure I have everything before carting off. The evening before I begin my new lessons, I put all my needed materials in the loading zone.
This system really works for me. I spend 10 to 15 minutes setting up my loading zone prior to the lessons, and then during planning when I reset my cart, it literally only takes me 2 minutes. I double check my materials list, and then I'm off to use the rest of my planning time to, oh you know, plan awesome lessons that will work- or whatever else needs to be done.
Happy carting, friends.
